Just do it.<br /><br />They moved up through the grass, spread out, silent. Halfway there, the world exploded.<br /><br />Machine guns from the crest. Mortars from behind. Men screamed and fell.<br /><br />Mike kept moving, firing at flashes, yelling at his men to advance. Beside him, a kid from Ohio took a bullet and went down. Mike kept moving.<br /><br />They reached the top. The Germans fled. The hill was theirs.<br /><br />Mike stood on the crest, counting his squad. Seven left from twelve. He looked at the bodies below, at the boys who wouldn't go home.<br /><br />"Worth it?" someone asked.<br /><br />Mike had no answer.
